Auction Repair Estimate exists because too many buyers win a car and only then discover what it truly costs to fix.
We are an independent, education-first resource focused on one thing: helping you turn an auction listing into a realistic repair number before you bid. We are not affiliated with Copart, IAA, or any shop, and we do not sell cars, parts, or repairs. That independence matters, because most of the information a salvage buyer encounters comes from someone with an interest in the sale going through.
Our guides come from the world of collision estimating, translated into plain language for buyers. Professional estimators do not guess — they inventory the damage, map it to labor operations, price parts at a chosen tier, and add refinishing and calibration as their own lines. When you can price a repair the way a shop does, you can bid with discipline instead of optimism, and you can recognize the cars where the math simply does not work.
Honest estimating means including the costs that make a deal look worse: the contingency for damage the photos do not show, the calibration line that is invisible until the invoice, the fees and transport that stack on the hammer price, and the resale discount a branded title carries.
