IAA charges a buyer's premium of about 10% of the winning bid (capped near $500 for standard vehicles), plus a service fee of about $105, an environmental fee of about $15, and a title handling fee of about $20.

How IAA fees differ from Copart
IAA structures its charges differently: a buyer's premium tied to the sale price, a flat service fee for handling and loading, an environmental fee, and a title handling fee. Bidding online adds an internet bid fee that scales with the winning amount.
Licensed, high-volume business buyers get a different schedule than public and low-volume buyers, and some branches add local charges. The lot page's own fee disclosure is always the final word — use it to sanity-check the estimate here before you commit to a number.
As with any auction, cheap cars carry the worst fee percentages because the flat fees do not shrink with the bid. A $500 winning bid can genuinely cost $900 by the time the vehicle is on a trailer.
IAA fee questions
- What is the IAA buyer's premium?
- It is the main percentage-based fee IAA charges on the winning bid for standard vehicles, subject to a cap. Specialty categories such as heavy equipment carry different rates and caps.
- Does IAA charge more for online bidding?
- Yes. Winning a vehicle through an internet bid adds a tiered internet bid fee on top of the buyer's premium. Bidding in person or through some branch programs avoids it.
- What other costs should I budget beyond IAA's fees?
- Transport from the branch to your shop, state sales tax where applicable, storage if you miss the free pickup window, and — the biggest one — the actual repair bill. Estimate repairs from the listing before you bid, not after you win.
